
A very handsome Victorian Writing Slope in Rosewood, circa 1870.
This is an excellent and very solid Rosewood Writing Slope in fine condition for its 150 years.
It has a lovely grain and patina and all the brass stringing, cartouche and lock plate are intact,
The exterior is in excellent condition with no veneer missing and minimal scratching and dings
Normally commensurate with age.
The box features: a working lock on a replacement key, two brass-capped ink bottles, stamp slope, nib box, pen tray, and a small letter rack. Underneath the writing boards there is plenty of room for storage of letters, stationery and documents. The red antiqued leather skiver is in reasonable condition. Although a fully useable writing box it is also a very attractive display piece.
